"The Officer Jane Warner memorial plaque dedication ceremony on Saturday, February 4, 2012, was a resounding success. In gorgeous sunshine the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence began the proceedings with a blessing, followed by speeches from Ann Damiani representing State Senator Mark Leno, District 8 Supervisor Scott Wiener, former Supervisor Bevan Dufty, SFPD Chief Greg Suhr, CP-USA Chief Ken Craig, and Officer Alan Byard of the Patrol Special Police. If you live in or visit San Francisco, please take a moment to drop by The Jane Warner Plaza at 17th and Market Streets in San Francisco's famed Castro district and check out the amazing bronze plaque, now permanently installed and at home in the Castro - as Patrol Special Police "Officer Jane" always was." -- Ken Craig, Castro Citizens on Patrol (2/6/12)

The Patrol Special Police wish to thank many individuals and organizations who generously contributed to fund Officer Jane's permanent plaque at the plaza, and make the Board of Supervisor's honor a reality. Twin beacons now stand in the Castro, one honoring Harvey Milk, San Francisco's first gay Mayor, and the other honoring much-loved Officer Jane, who will be remembered forever for her remarkable life of service to beloved clients and neighbors in the Castro, Noe, and the Mission. -- Officer Alan Byard, President, Patrol Special Police Association (2/6/12; view photos from the day's event.
